Mitsubishi Heavy Industries - Compressor Facility
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corporation's selected a 26-acre site in Pearland's Lower Kirby District for its new manufacturing and service facility. Construction began in July on the new 100,000-square-foot plant, which will bring over 100 new jobs to Pearland. Employees at this facility will produce, service and market compressors and steam turbines to serve the growing demands of North American chemical customers. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2015.
Nebraska Furniture Mart - Super Flat Floors
General contractor Turner Construction Co. is building Nebraska Furniture Mart’s location within the center. “They built our Kansas City store,” Owner Jeff Lind says, noting that many of the same employees are at work on the new location.
The new location in The Colony will be the company's largest store and part of a 433-acre destination project that NFM is developing, including an adjacent town center.
When finished, the store will feature 560,000 square feet of retail and a 1.3-million-square-foot distribution center. “It should be the largest volume home furnishing store in the United States,” he predicts.
